Annular Core Biochar Production System
Background:
Biochar properties are highly dependent on the process conditions. There is a need to have a
system which can generate the char in different pyrolytic conditions to acquire the desired
properties in the final product, i.e., char. There is a need to develop a system for the
production of biochar having precise thermal regulation along with a uniform convection
mode two side radial heating of biomaterial for uniform, better, and desired quality product:
Technology Details:
The concept of the annular core with two side convection heating of biomass bed was
introduced in this system. The annular core cassette to hold the biomass bed is provided in
this system which gives the benefits of placing and removing the material easily. Further,
different kinds of biomaterial can also be placed in the same run to compare the effect of
pyrolytic treatment on biomass. The cassette has perforations to allow the heat through
convection. The annular core biochar reactor provides a uniform convection mode two side
radial heating of biomaterial for uniform, better, and desired quality product during slow
pyrolysis process in this reactor. Two-way radial heating using electrical filaments given in this
unit gives a uniform thermal gradient across the biomass bed. The temperature can be
controlled precisely as per need
