Area Specific Mineral Mixture (Mithun-Min)
Background:
Availability of minerals to animals in appropriate quantity is a pre-requisite for better health and production. The minerals should be in optimum concentration in the feed resources we feed to the animals. The minerals are liable to form bonds and negatively interact more than any other nutrient substances. Absorption of minerals highly variable with the dietary nutrient content. Mithun reared under free range condition exhibit salt hunger behavior and mithuns likes to drink water from the lower catchment water logging areas as the lower stream point might be higher mineral content, which make the mithuns to take water from that area. This type of behavior in Mithuns must be due to insufficient mineral uptake from the feeds. :
Technology Details:
The content of minerals varies from region to region due to several reasons. :
• In mithun inhabited areas, mineral content of many tree leaves are in higher side, which used to cause an improper proportions of minerals in their diet. :
• Further, the minerals are liable to form bonds and interact more than one nutrient. This reduces their bioavailability.:
