Technology Details:
Arka-Dorsolure F is a trap technology directed to attract and trap female B. dorsalis.
Our invention is a combination of a trap design + kairomone blend formulation that is attractive
to female B. dorsalis. The kairomonal blend formulation contains a mixture of Product A + Product B + Product C + suitable emulsifier at specified ratios that attracts female B. dorsalis and the trap is designed to capture female flies without allowing them to retrieve loose. The kairomonal blend formulation (calculated amount) is dispensed into a novel septum well studied
for its dimension, with highly precise specification. This aids in an almost natural release rate of kairomones that mimic fruits or plants. Apart, the formulation components trigger innate recognition templates in B. dorsalis, which exhibits a hard-wired response to these cues and is
less likely to allow the escape of female flies from the trap.:
a) Novelty: Our technology is a first of its kind combination product of effective individual plant volatiles which are capable of attracting greater number of female B. dorsalis flies.:
b) Non-obviousness: The invention itself is first of its kind as mentioned earlier, we have conducted significant number of lab and field trials to arrive at this combination and compositions. We thoroughly examined the potential of our formulation in attracting the female flies of B. dorsalis.:
c) Utility: From the experiment trials we concluded that our technology is capable of attracting greater numbers of female B. dorsalis flies. Our technology traps greater numbers of male flies thereby, linking the potential of our technology in cucurbit fruit fly IPM, male annihilation, control and eradication programs.
