Arka Eggstra
Background:
The present technology relates to the field of sericulture and methods to increase fertile egg laying in silkmoth. :
Technology Details:
The technology relates to the use of chemical oviposition stimulant agents (Host volatiles) in the form of embedment, spray or gels for enhancing egg-laying capacity in silkmoths in-vitro.:
• This technology is based on a formulation containing a blend of kairomones from plants that have electrophysiological excitation to Bombyx mori females. :
• The females are excited by the addition of the blend and lay more eggs on treated substrate than control. It was also noted that % egg retention in females provided with treated substrate was less and significantly different from the controls. :
• This technology is first-of-its-kind and is standardized using state-of-the-art facilities and analysis. Treating our formulation on oviposition substrate (paper or cellulose sheet) or through droplet application stimulates the gravid female silkmoth to lay higher % of fertilized eggs and significant reduction in the eggs retained in the abdomen. This makes our technology robust.:
• A Novel kairomone blend “Arka Eggstra” and application methodology for increasing fertile egg laying capacity in silk moth, Bombyx mori. Patent No. 309741
