JBSC-1 is first single cut variety of berseem in India, with characteristics of single cut, self-compatible and high seed production. Special features of JBSC-1 include tall height, broad dark green leaf, thick stem, apical branching, high seedling vigor, large seed size. JBSC-1 is also suitable for hay preparation. The variety is notified in 2018 for commercial cultivation in Central and North West Zone including states Maharashta, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.
