Technology Details:
Keeping in view of certain projections like crop diversification, judicious utilization of land resources, enhancing farmer’s income, malnutrition burden and climate change, the proposed variety (Him Phaphra) of buckwheat would be promising effort to address all above issues. The variety has averaged seed yield 12q/ha, and matures in 105 days. It has 13 % protein and 1.32 g/100g methionine amino acid content. Hence, there is an urgent need to develop appropriate mechanisms along with scientific interventions for exploitation of this climate resilient super food crop for livelihood security of ever-increasing population especially in the hill regions of India.
