Background:
Argulosis is the single most devastating parasitic disease in Indian aquaculture. To date, there are no proven preventive or treatment measures available against this important pathogen. Farmers and practitioners largely depend on broad-spectrum chemicals and pesticides which makes the parasite resistant against these agents in subsequent applications. To combat these issues we have formulated an effective herbal-based formulation (CIFA L-Check) that effectively controls argulosis. As the formulation is herbal based there is little chance of resistance development and environmental harm. L-Check has shown great potential for the treatment of argulosis in wet-laboratory conditions and in farmers' fields. Three purified formulas of herbal active ingredients (Component A, Component B and Component C) were mixed in an optimum combination to develop the final product i.e. CIFA L-Check. The product kills all the life stages of the parasites very effectively. The reduced burden of parasite is immediately being reflected in terms of good skin luster and growth of fish, thereby increasing the economic return. Technology Details:
Three purified formulas of herbal active ingredients (Component A, Component B and Component C) were mixed in an optimum combination to develop the final product i.e. CIFA L-Check. CIFA L-Check needs to be applied thrice in an argulus-infected pond at optimum prescribed intervals. The 2nd and 3rd dose of L-Check may go without component A to reduce the price. The product can effectively control agrulosis in culture conditions. It has been tested both in wet laboratory and more than twenty farmer’s field and found to be very effective.
