Background:
Kits available in the market are for screening of environmental, toxicology samples. These kits don’t cover aqua-cultural range and have no instruction on management of low and high value of parameters for aquaculture. Kits are costly and difficult for farmers to use. Conventional toxic chemicals like mercuric chloride, cadmium, concentrated sulfuric acid etc. are used thus illiterate and semiliterate fish farmers have chance of toxicities by inhalation and contact. Technology Details:
• Kits are inexpensive: Seven sets of kit i.e. 1. pH 2. DO 3. Salinity 4. Ammonia gas and ammonium ion 5. CIFE multiparameter test kits for hardness, alkalinity, free carbon dioxide, Ca, Mg etc. 6. Nitrate, Nitrite 7. Phosphate, Iron and Chlorine can analyze 15 parameters with a total cost of production less than Rs 1750 at Institute level when we are producing 100-200 test kits only. When the company will produce these kits at commercial level, the cost of production will reduce drastically. • Packaging: Most of the commercial kits have no foam packaging, packed in cheap paper box. All Kits are packed in corrugated plastic box and items are kept inside foam packaging in air-tight sealed light resistance container. These will ensure protection from sunlight, air, rain and help in proper transportation. • Safety: The kits are ecofriendly, safe to users and avoid altogether the toxic and hazardous low-cost chemicals (like mercuric iodide, cadmium, concentrated sulphuric acid etc.) which are conventionally used in other commercial kits. • Simple, precise & includes fish culture range: The procedure of tests is simple, even a layman farmer can do it. The literature is provided in simple language of English, Hindi and Bengali. The aquaculture range of all parameters are included judiciously, ranges are narrow and precise. • Management is easy: Literature is also provided to manage the low and high value of all parameters in the backside of Instruction Sheets. So, farmers don’t have to go for anybody’s help after knowing the values. They can manage the culture themselves.
