CISH-Double row vertical hydroponic system
Technology Background:
High population pressure, rising food prices, socio-economic and environmental stresses cause a serious challenge for food, nutrition, health and environmental security in urban and per urban areas. Hydroponic technology plays an important role in order to produce maximum food with efficient input use and low insect pest risks and prove worthiness on roof top and indoor gardening in metropolitan cities. Among the all-hydroponic systems nutrient film is most efficient for crop production but for short stature single harvest crop in single layer hydroponics or single row vertical hydroponics becomes uneconomical due to limited number of plant accommodation. On other hand with increase in density vertical structure cause shading in lower layers and ultimately reduce the yield. Hence innovations in geometrical arrangement of grow channels and plants for maximum production with sufficient light enhance the yield by accommodating more plant per unit area. Imported vertical system available is expensive and technically difficult to manage. Hence indigenous design has been developed:
Technology details:
CISH- Double Row Vertical hydroponics design arranges grow channels and plants in such way that allows more light perpetration decides accommodating more plant per unit area . In this system grow channels are placed in double rows which gives wider space alternatively and allows more light at lower layers of plants and accommodates 20 % more number of plant /unit area. It is more suitable to indoor as well as in artificial light conditions.
