Background:
Till date there is no CMS based F1 hybrid in cabbage developed by Indian public sector. Most of the seeds of cabbage are imported from different countries and sold in Indian market at a very high price (Rs. 40000-60000/kg). Technology Details:
This is the first CMS based F1 hybrid in cabbage developed by Indian public sector. CMS based F1 hybrids are more preferred by farmers because of chance of sibs/off types as in case of selfincompatibility based F1 hybrids. Seed production of this hybrid can be taken up under Indian condition which will reduce the dependent on the imported hybrid seeds from outside. Seed production under Indian condition will facilitate greater availability of improved F1 hybrid seed in cabbage in an affordable price to the throughout India.
