Background:
Different feed ingredients are mixed to form a rich feed mix. The addition of proper moisture content in it and extruding it on pressure brings them in the form of pellets. These pellets may be dried and stored for use in lean season and they are easy to transport in packed form. A compact machine able to form the pellets from the feed mix was required to make feed pellets.:
Technology Details:
A compact machine able to make feed pellets consisted of a 3.7 kW, 3 phase electric motor, a screw auger, auger housing, pressure plate, feed chute, and outlet plate. Pressure plates having different sizes of holes were used to make feed pellets of different diameters suitable for different ruminants. The power carrying shaft to screw auger of the pelleting machine was divided into two portions and the auger press was arranged in such a way that it could be pulled out easily for cleaning after use of the machine. For pulling out the auger easily, the plate on the other side of the auger was fixed with folding bolts on hinges. This allowed the easy opening of the pressure plate for taking out the screw auger for cleaning. Belt and pulley arrangement was provided between prime mower and auger shaft. Thus this whole machine can make feed pellets with the proper mix of ingredients.
