DHB-1071 (Non Bt Interspecific Cotton Hybrid)
Background:
After the release of ELS category interspecific hybrids DCH-32, DHB-105, DHB-290 and DHB-915,
the last being in 2010, there was a need for an interspecific hybrid which was higher yielding
and more tolerant to diseases and pests. The rapidly changing environment was affecting the
productivity of the existing interspecific hybrids. Hence a breeding program to identify a better
hybrid was launched.:
Technology Details:
DHB -1071 has a superior seed cotton yield of over 21 per cent compared to all the existing
checks. It also has the highest lint yield, boll weight and number of bolls per plant compared.
Fiber quality traits are on par with DCH-32 and local checks. DHB-1071 has greater tolerance to
both pests and diseases.
