Background:
DRR Dhan 64 (IET 28358) is a semi tall, high yielding, short bold grained variety well suited for irrigated rice growing ecologies of Bihar and West Bengal. It is moderately resistance to major insect pests and diseases such as leaf blast and neck blast. Resistance to gall midge and rice thrips and moderate resistance to plant hoppers and Whorl Maggot. The performance of DRR Dhan 64 was consistently high under irrigated ecologies of Zones III. On over all basis, it showed 5.3-6.0t/ha grain yield and superiority of 8%, 37% and 18% over checks from 2019 to 2021. Therefore, DRR Dhan 64 was promising in the states of Bihar and West Bengal (Zone III)under irrigated conditions during 2019-2021 coordinated trials. It is also responsive to higher doses of nitrogen. DRR Dhan 64 has good head rice recovery (66.8%), long slender (LS) grain type with intermediate alkali spreading value (4.0%), amylose content (22.50%) and gel consistency (62mm) indicating good cooking quality. The cultivation of DRR Dhan 64 will certainly increase rice yields in areas of Zone III.:
