Dweeptickure
Technology Details:
Ticks are very dangerous obligate blood sucking ectoparasites of vertebrate hosts. There are various ways to control ticks and among these Chemical control with acaricides has been considered as one of the best methods i.e. widespread use of acaricideslike organophosphates, carbamates, pyrethroids, BHC/cyclodines, amidines, macrocyclic lactones and benzoylphenylureas. However, ticks have developed resistance against a range of acaricides. Moreover, these chemicals are toxic causing many accidental poisonings especially in children, residue problem in meat and milk and environmental pollution. Problems of acaricide resistance, chemical residues in food and the environment and the unsuitability of tick resistant cattle for all production systems make the current situation unsatisfactory. Hence, there is always a need for the development of an alternate and absolute control method, without any toxicity. One of the upcoming and future strategies of tick control is herbal acaricide. The present technology is ecofriendly nontoxic herbal formulation for the treatment of tick infestation in livestock which is particularly comprising of herbal extract in herbal oil for killing ticks and repelling flies from domestic animals. The formulation is a patented technology which has potential to be a part of Integrated Pest Management for sustainable effect on cattle and goat.
