Background:
In India, seeds are sown by broadcasting and drilling by titan or traditional implements. They give the non-uniform distribution of seeds which in turn gave excessive plant population and uneven plant spacing. Non-uniformity in seed plating and plant population results in reduced yield. Therefore, the metering mechanisms are evaluated in the laboratory on a sticky belt setup to optimize the parameters of the metering mechanism. The developed instrumented setup may solve the problems associated with the existing setups. The costs existing are very high which limits its use by every research institute university. Therefore, considering the economic conditions and a low-cost ICAR-CIAE Instrumented sticky belt set up for laboratory evaluation of metering mechanisms were developed to provide solutions.:
Technology Details:
This setup is suitable for the calibration of the metering mechanism. Use of this setup can give precise performance evaluation of any type of metering mechanism i.e., Vertical plate type, Inclined plate type. The developed equipment can be used for any type of metering mechanism to check its efficacy. Moreover, as it is instrumented and the lightweight unit can be utilized by researchers, various universities, research stations, and research facilities of the companies.
