LBCH3 (DMRHB1305)
Background:
Now a day, enhancing farm profitability in the crop production is a major target of any
research organization. In this regard, production of baby corn in the hilly region can help the
farmers to enhance profitability by way of organic baby corn production as the soil of the
region is rich in the humus. The Sikkim which is purely an organic state declared by
government of India may have plenty of scope to grow baby corn and therefore can enhance
farmers income. This baby corn can fetch higher prices in the national and international
market.:
Technology Details:
In view of this, a baby corn hybrid development programme was initiated by ICAR-IIMR to
target the Northern Hill Zone. We have developed an early maturing baby corn hybrid suited
to this target ecology with in-built tolerance to biotic stresses. This hybrid LBCH3 out yielded
the existing best baby corn check and released and notified in the year 2020 by CVRC. The
female line V373 is very productive and there is good synchrony with male parent for hybrid
seed production. However, the synchrony is to be standardized at the site of seed production.
