Phosphate solubilising bacterial liquid biofertilizer (PSB1)
Background :
Phosphorus is one of the key macro nutrients essential for plant growth. However, phosphorus commonly occurs in complex forms in soil. Therefore, phosphorous solubilizing bacteria (PSB) play an important role in phosphorus solubilization from complex forms. The proposed product contains efficient P solubilising bacteria. Novelty of the product is that the PSB, having its role as P solubilisation, it also improves association between legumes and rhizobium. :
Product is a liquid biofertilizer with mix of live cells of PSB namely Burkholderia sp/Paraburkholderia sp. Seed coating of the product improves nodulation and yield of soybean, chickpea and pigeon pea under field condition. The proposed product is novel and has applicability to improve yield of legumes. :
Technology Details :
The Phosphate solubilizing bacteria strain igkv1 solubilizes phosphorous efficiently. However, in addition to P solubilisation, it enhances nodulation in legumes as it improves association between legumes and rhizobium. Liquid bioformulation contained 108 cells/ml and it has a shelf life of 1 year under room condition. :
Application of liquid biofertilizer as seed coat (20-30 ml/kg), improved nodulation and growth of pigeon pea, soybean and chickpea. Formulation improved nodulation in pigeon pea by 1.9-folds and chickpea by 3-folds. Formulation increased grain yield in soybean by 15.5%, pigeon pea by 16%, and chickpea by 12.6% over un-inoculated control. Application of consortia can save both P and N fertilizers up to 25% without any adverse effect on crop yield. :
