A variety of skin creams and lotions are used to soften skin, repair lesions, combat dryness and reduce roughness in irritated skin. Because of side effect of petroleum-based ingredients and chemicals, consumers, now-a-days, increasingly prefer natural ingredients in cosmetics, which are free from chemical and other impurities and are safe to use. Chemical synthesis of an ingredient is perceived as environmentally unsafe. On the other hand, natural products are perceived as pure and mild and thus superior to chemically synthesized products. Most of the skin care compositions available in the market contain only some natural ingredients with the majority of their components being synthetic. The prior art skin care compositions do not provide effective moisturizing properties using only naturally-derived, naturally-processed, safe, biodegradable ingredients. Some skin care products have been developed but the natural ingredients used in their preparation are costly and are not easily available. Therefore, there remains a need for a skin care composition comprising natural ingredients which are cheap and easily available. The composition should be capable of providing emolliency to the skin but which is non-allergenic and non-irritating to the skin. Still further, there remains a need to provide such a skin care composition which can be used with various types of skin, including dry, normal and oily skins and which does not leave a greasy or oily feel on the skin. The disadvantages of prior arts can be overcome by the use of a new skin care composition of the present invention fabricated with the ingredients which are naturally-derived, naturally processed, safe, biodegradable, and easily available, provided with rice bran oil having high oryzanol content, in combination with aqueous rice extract. The composition of the present invention will leave the skin in a smooth, moisturized condition for a longer period of time:
The present invention has advantages over the prior arts which are mentioned here. i. The components of the inventive skin moisturizing composition are naturally-derived, naturally-processed, safe and biodegradable. Advantageously, the composition is biodegradable and environmentally friendly:
ii. Advantageously, the composition is light, non-tacky, gentle and soft when applied on the skin and has no irritating effect and leaves a non-sticky and fresh feel after use. Advantageously, the composition of the invention can be used daily:
iii. The present invention provides a cost-efficient combination of elements and process for creating skin moisturizing composition. The ingredients including rice bran oil used in this invention are cheaper and easily available. Aqueous white rice extract and aqueous brown rice extract is a waste product of rice cooking process. Aqueous brown rice concentrate can also be prepared from brown rice very easily:
iv. The inventive composition containing rice bran oil and aqueous rice extract provides not only the emolliency to the skin but also the benefits of biologically active components present in them. This benefit is not available with the prior art products containing mineral oils or synthetic emollients:
v. Oryzanol, vitamins and other antioxidants like tocopherols, tocotrienols, Phytosterols etc provided by rice bran oil and aqueous brown rice extract in the inventive skin care composition. These antioxidants fight with free radicals and slow down the effect of aging on skin:

Due to the presence of rice bran oil and aqueous rice extract, the inventive composition contains various skin beneficial ingredients which helps in revitalizing the skin and keeping skin smooth, supple and soft, protecting skin from environmental pollution, minimizing the effects of chapping and reducing the effects of dryness:
vii. Starch, the major component of aqueous rice extract acts as a gelling agent in the inventive product, and when applied to skin, it provides moisture slowly but for a longer period of time:
viii. Rice bran oil is a known effective sun screening agent in protecting the skin against sunburn upon exposure to ultraviolet radiation in the region of from about 295 nm to 315 nm. Thus, the inventive product containing rice bran oil with high amount of oryzanol is capable of protecting the skin against sunburn.
