UAS-375 (Wheat)
Background:
In Karnataka, around 60 percent of wheat cultivation is under rainfed situation; where in local types and durum wheats are majorly cultivated. In due course of time, they have become highly susceptible to leaf diseases. Besides, the consumers have lot of pretence for quality wheat. The constraints for quality bread wheat along with resistance to diseases and tolerance to drought were noted.
Technology Details:
The demand for drought tolerant, high yielding and disease resistance was taken into account and breeding programme towards this direction lead to development of variety UAS 375. It was released for both Karnataka and Maharashtra under conserved moisture condition. Besides high yielding ability, it is rich in grain protein (>13.0%) and best suited for bread and chapati preparation.
