UAS-446 (Wheat)
Background:
In Karnataka, around 60 percent of wheat cultivation is under rainfed situation; where in local types and durum wheat are majorly cultivated. In due course of time, all the local types like Bansi, B.Yellow and Amruth have become highly susceptible to leaf diseases. This necessitated the development of high yielding, drought tolerant bread wheat varieties for conserved moisture situation.
Technology Details:
With an objective to replace the local types which are poor yielders and highly susceptible leaf diseases, programme was initiated at AICRP on Wheat. Because of constant efforts, UAS 347 bread wheat variety was developed and released for cultivation under conserved moisture conditions. It is a high yielding variety with resistant to prevailing leaf diseases. Apart from this, it possesses good quality traits and best suited for chapati preparation.
