Technology Details:
The proposed variety VL Tamatar 4 (VTG 93) is an indeterminate variety developed in hills for better fruit quality (juicy, thick flesh, firm, red colour, smooth and round fruits) and disease resistance (fruit rot and seedling rot complex.), would be a better option for the growers. In the hills, the government is promoting vegetable production under the organic condition as well as under polyhouse. This variety was tested under organic conditions (FYM 40 t/ha, Fresh weight) at different centers in hills and recommended for release. It is also most suited to poly house cultivation and thus, it suits very well the growing conditions of hill farmers which saves money with regard to seed cost and comparatively less use of pesticides as compared to hybrids:
