Method for extraction of grape seed oil comprising bioactive compounds from a Manjari Medika variety of grape

Technology Details:
The disclosed methodology involves the extraction of grape seed oil, enriched with bioactive compounds, from the Manjari medika grape variety. The extracted grape seed oil contains various bioactive compounds, such as total Vitamin E, ?-tocotrienol, fatty acids, and polyphenols. Within the grape seed oil, the total Vitamin E content typically ranges from 1200 to 1500 mg/kg, while the ?-tocotrienol content falls between 890 and 1070 mg/kg. The presence of Vitamin E and phenolic compound present in oil make it as an ideal oil to use in nutraceutical products (Vitamin E supplement) and a cosmetic oil in dermatological therapy. The oil has proven to be beneficial for the treatment of hepatic inflammation related disorders in animal bodies. The polyphenolic constituents provide antioxidant properties on oral ingestion or dermal supplementation. After the oil extraction, the remaining solid (grape seed cake) is also useful as an animal feed, containing high proportions of polyphenolic antioxidants and dietary fiber. This highlights the 'zero waste" nature of this innovative technology.
