Background:
Area under cardamom is 69.2 thousand ha with a production of 22.5 thousand tonnes and productivity of 325 kg ha-1 of dried capsules in 2020-21. Cardamom productivity in India is the lowest; however, the yield in progressive farmers/ research station yield is markedly higher (700-1000 kg per ha). Since there is a vast difference between the potential yield and present level of national productivity, there is enough potential to increase productivity.
